GRACE (GNSS [Global Navigation Satellite Systems] Research and Applications Centre of Excellence) is
part of the University of Nottingham and has been established through €4m investment from the East Midlands Development Agency (emda), one of the nine English Regional Development Agencies or RDAs. It has been mandated with the task of developing a cluster of GNSS and geospatial related companies in the East Midlands region of the UK. GRACE provides direct access to business incubation units and test and research and development facilities and forms a gateway to a 20,000 square metre innovation park managed by the University of Nottingham.
Founded in 2007 GRACE participates in a wide variety of European innovation support networks including the Regions of Knowledge initiative of DG Research, KIS4SAT / Europe INNOVA of DG ENTR, NEREUS (Network of European Regions Using Satellite Technologies) of which we co-chair the satellite navigation group and ENCADRE, the European Network of Clusters for Satellite Application Development. We provide assistance directly to SMEs (Small to Medium Size Enterprises) through incubation and innovation services delivered directly and through a variety of programmes including innovation vouchers and the UK leg of the European Satellite Navigation Conference (ESNC).
