FROM SMART CITY TO SMART MOBILITY
How new mobility solutions could support changed and evolved mobility needs
Final conference of TRAFFIC SHAPER project
9th July 2015 - Venice, S. Marta Port Area - Building 16
THE PROJECT IN A NUTSHELL
The Traffic Shaper project aims at implementing a large-scale innovative solution for mobile services by supporting the mobility of drivers in reaching their final destination. Traffic Shaper merges and analyses historical data together with live road traffic and environmental conditions in order to distribute homogeneously the traffic flows among alternative routes. This concept favours drivers' safety and air pollution prevention.
The service is able to predict traffic jams taking into account the users habits in terms of daily movements and special events that can occur during the day.
In addition, Traffic Shaper is a powerful instrument to deal with emergencies. The project foresees the integration of the “Emergency Umbria” portal in order to report special emergency events to the Traffic Shaper users and to facilitate the civil protection work along the affected area.
The project as a whole wishes to push forward the capabilities of modern satellite navigation systems (GPS) and to demonstrate the potential to meet real life transportation needs, leading to positive impacts in addressing smart, green and integrated road transport.
The project is supported (co-funded) by European Commission in the framework of the European Mobile and Mobility Industries Alliance for the development of large-scale demonstrators in Europe (for more info visit http://www.mobilise-europe.mobi).
