Short course satellite communications

2015-07-08 - 2015-07-10

ESA’s Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications (TIA) is co-organising with the University of Oxford Department for Continuing Education a short course in satellite communications for professionals. It will take place in Oxford from Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 July 2015.

This new course will offer a complete introductory overview of satellite communications. The target audience is graduates and young professionals with an engineering and/or financial background as well as senior professionals wishing to expand their background knowledge of satcoms system and services.

The course will be given by specialists from TIA in conjunction with leading specialists from the satellite industry, thereby offering course participants the opportunity to network with potential customers and/or recruits.

“The choice of Oxford for this new course is a logical one,” said Magali Vaissiere, Director of TIA. “ESA has a growing presence at our ECSAT facility on the Harwell-Oxford Campus, from where we actively support the development of the space industry in the UK through joint initiatives such as this one.”

“In planning this course, our goal was to provide a clear roadmap linking on-going technology developments with clear examples of real-world market requirement,” said ESA’ s Emmanuel Rammos, course organiser and lecturer.

"By joining forces with specialists from industry and operators, this course will provide a valuable perspective of satcom systems and the main actors active in the market," said ESA’s Ana Bolea Alamanac, co-organiser and lecturer.
